| PURPOSE: To determine policies, procedures and regulations for organization, to raise funds to finance the organization, and to monitor organizational performance.
TERM: 1-3 years ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS: Board members are expected to attend full board meetings six times annually; and to serve on at least one board committee requiring approximately six additional meetings. MAJOR FUNCTIONS: 1. Establish, reappraise and revise the organization’s mission and objectives. 2. Formally and intentionally support the organization’s program. 3. Select, oversee and evaluate ULOAH’s future Executive Director. 4. Conduct effective resource development. 5. Set program policies. 7. Oversee financial management and budgeting. 8. Engage in long-range planning and conduct periodic evaluations. 9. Meet all legal requirements. INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Attend all board meetings, training sessions and special meetings as appropriate. 2. Serve on at least one committee and attend committee meetings as assigned. 3. Understand Organization - be fully informed about ULOAH's purposes, goals, objectives, and programs. 4. Make decisions on issues, policies, goals and objectives based on careful consideration of the facts. 5. Participate fully and openly in meetings...share insights, ideas and suggestions. 6. Criticize, when necessary, in a constructive way. If possible, suggest an alternative course. 7. Carry out all delegated assignments promptly. 8. Stay informed and know what is going on in the organization. Ask questions and request information. 9. Provide counsel, advice and encouragement to other board directors and staff. 10. Solicit funds and community resources, participate in fund-raising campaigns, and open doors for others to raise funds. 11. Recruit volunteers, both board members and program volunteers. 12. Serve on committees and accept special assignments as requested and as possible. 13. Back up other board members and staff, defending them if they are unjustly criticized or attacked. 15. Attend ULOAH’s functions whenever possible. Minimum Qualifications 1. A ULOAH member. 2. 21 years or older. 3. High School Graduate. 4. Computer literate; Advance Internet user. 5. Recruited and nominated by a current or former board director or staff. NOTE: If you were not recruited but would like to be considered please submit your request to: info@uloah.com before applying. Minimum Requirements 1. Commitment to ULOAH’s Statement of Purpose and Mission. 2. Construal Agreement for 1-3 years. 3. Commitment of 2 hours per month on behalf of ULOAH. 4. Attend no less than 75% of regular Board Meetings. 5. Chairing or participating in at least 1 Committee. 6. Make a personal and if possible business contribution to the organization’s annual operating needs (Currently $200.00/year). 7. Participate in or attend most of the program activities involving the operation. 8. Make at least five person-to-person visits to individuals, foundations, businesses, or civic groups to request financial contribution for the organization per year. 9. Secure a volunteer, in-kind service or material goods for the organization per year. 10. Secure at least 3 new donors or members per year for the organization. 11. Actively assist with special events of the organization. |
